Tavistock Community Sports Centre invites you to Run 4 Fun this Sunday

CHARITY runners are being invited to sign up for the Tavistock Community Sports Centre’s race in aid of a children’s hospital.
Run 4 Fun will take place on Sunday, June 20 at Tavistock College as a fundraiser for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Sports centre manager Barry Mountstevens said: “The whole community is invited to run 10 laps – or four kilometres - of the town’s track in aid of the charity.
“Entry is just £5 with all proceeds going to the hospital, and children can also take part and run four laps instead of 10.”

The simple answer is they do not. The Tax payers contribute greatly to the NHS already. If they can't manage with what they get, they can't manage (which appears to be very common). Many Hospitals were built on donated land and built by benefactors. Charity is big business now. Whatever the cause the suits will come and market it. There is big money in it for them. The bigger the sob story, the bigger the bonuses.

ReportWhy do hospitals need to raise money at all? It should all be paid for by the state. It annoys me when hospitals and schools paid for by taxes then ask us for donations... Hold on, isn't that saying "hey do you want to pay another £5 tax as the Government haven't given us enough"
Ironic perhaps as I work in education but know only to well how sensitive it is to keep asking parents and businesses for sponsorship, donations of goods, volunteers etc.

ReportIf money has to be raised for a Children's Hospital. Why is it not being done for Bristol Royal Hospital for Children? The long awaited one that covers this region. Is the Charity marketing slicker?
