KATIE MIDDLETON, Keyham Kolts and Tavistock’s Allen Lewis were among the winners at the Devon County FA Awards night for 2009/10.

Top women’s footballer Middleton won the Young Volunteer of the Year award.

Middleton plays for Bristol Academy in the FA Premier Division, but she is helping young Plymouth girls follow in her footsteps.

Middleton, who now works as a full-time physio at Derriford Hospital, started playing football in the DJM for Activate and at Eggbuckland Community College.

She then progressed through Plymouth Argyle girls’ centre of excellence and then went on to captain their first team.

Now she works as a coach at Argyle’s centre of excellence and also gives a large amount of her time to Activate Youth, which is one of Devon’s largest charter standard community clubs.

Keyham Kolts FC won the Charter Standard Devon County Club of the Year Award. Keyham have worked hard at making sure football is accessible to all within their community and have used a successful application to Grow the Game to develop girls football within their club.

Meanwhile, Tavistock’s Lewis won the Outstanding Contribution to the Respect Programme Award.

Lewis has single handily tackled the Respect Programme at Tavistock.

He is also a finalist for the national Bobby Moore Respect Award.
