The Pannire Market makes Tavistock what it is. It provides the centre of the town and provides a brilliant atmosphere. The building itself is fantastic and you can wander around inside for a good hour. There are lots of different stalls - which change depending on the day of the week. Some have been there for as long as I can remember. It is well maintained and the toilets here are also kept immaculate.

The Tavistock Pannier Market is a traditional market situated in the centre of the town. A very friendly atmosphere with a great variety of stalls for all ages and interests. Very reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. This is definately a visit if you are shopping arount the tavistock area.
I had a stall in the Pannier Market for 11 years [now retired] it was like having a large family, the people and stall holders are so friendly [AND THE REEVE AND HELPERS] the toilets were spotless, Oh what a place you couldnt wish for better and now being a shopper in the market it's even better, the stalls are wonderfully turned out, it's just a joy to go in and now it's open on a Monday summer only i think. Keep up the good work Eddie and Son.

The pannier market is very much part of Tavistock, there is a huge range of stalls and products being sold within! It is very much part of the town that makes it unique. Alot of unusual products can be found which will not be found in everyday stores around the town.

The Pannier Market is a must if you are going to Tavistock for the day. Rain or shine it doesnt matter as its all indoors, there is a small cafe at the rear and well kept public toilets here too. The stalls are amazing and there is always something different to look at. The sweet stall is a favourite of mine with all old fashioned sweets in big tubs! I cant walk past it without buying something!
This is what makes Tavistock special. Its so nice to have a mooch around when out shopping for the day. Its great just for a wander and a browse, but actually has some very useful stalls as well. I particularly like the hardware ones situated near the back wall. Its great for picking up random diy bits and bobs and the prices are great.

ReportYes we should all make an effort to buy locally and preserve our market. Its not fair to expect local suppliers to be able to compete with massive corporations, so its important that we all do our bit to keep the market going. After all its been around for hundreds of years, and is an integral part of Tavistock.
I love the pannier market, and although some of the things are more expensive then they would be in supermarkets or chain stores, I do try and make an effort to buy produce from here. You can tell the difference in the quality anyway! Its particularly good on the run up to Christmas, when you just cant think of what to buy for that awkward relative!
