    cant agree with the bad reviewer, but kind of see where he/she was coming from

       

    Ellis's is a long established bakery which produces a wide range of breads, cakes, pasties - all the usual. It is on the edge of the centre of the main shopping area. I have had perfectly good items from there, but have also had things that aren't as fresh or good as similar items from other shops. 'Traditional' bakeries are often like this though - regular patronage and you get to know what's good, and when's best to get it! Staff are good, and I like the feel of the place. So it gets a 3 from me, but I'd still use it if passing.

    Traditional But Not Tasty :(

       

    I love these old bakeries in towns like Tavistock. So I nipped in here for a couple of things for lunch, but found them inedible. They were so stale and tasteless, I wouldn't risk a second visit to see if it was a one off :(

    Brilliant bakers

       

    Ellis's bakery is a lovely traditional bakery with wonderful fresh bread, pasties and pastries. All food served hot and cold and cooked on site. The oldest bakery in Tavistock and Mr Ellis delivered my Grandmother in the 50's when my mother was a young girl. Well worth a visit to pick up some freshly baked goodies.

    Good selection

       

    Ellis's bakery has a very vast selection of foods to be purchased. There is a good choice of enjoyable pasties, served both hot and cold. They do a wide range of freshley baked bread as well as many sweet pastries, buns and snacks to be enjoyed. Friendly staff and never so busy its hard to get served!
