A level students Ashley Waite and Fionne Marshall joined the company’s performance team to investigate tenants’ satisfaction with the way their properties were maintained.
Fionne explained: “We carried out our own research, analysed the results and saw how the company worked.
“The project was a great success and we learned valuable analytical and organisational skills. It was interesting to be there and see how an organisation works in the real world; it was very good experience for us.”
The students received individual mentoring to help their learning and developed a range of skills which will be valuable for their future careers.
The work placement was organised by teacher Sue Shepherd and saw the students designing and running a project to a brief, before analysing the results and presenting them to the company’s technical services manager.
“We would like to thank West Devon Homes and Mrs Shepherd for arranging this excellent opportunity,” said Ashley. “It was really interesting and we learned a lot.”
Lisa Veysey, West Devon Homes’ performance improvement manager, said they had been very impressed by both Fionne and Ashley during the project.
“Their conduct has been exemplary in every way, their contribution considerable and both have been great ambassadors for Tavistock College,” she continued.
“We hope they have enjoyed working with us as much as we have enjoyed working with them.”
