TAVISTOCK Community Sports Centre’s summer holiday programme is now in full swing – with sports and activities for all ages and abilities.
Local people are invited to try fun fitness classes on weekday evenings ranging from yoga and pilates to boxfit and circuits.
Barry Mountstevens, sports centre manager, said: “The long summer evenings are an excellent time to try something new and get fit.
“The centre offers classes which are suitable for all fitness levels and we would encourage Tavistock people to make use of this community facility.”
The sports centre will also offer a special programme for children aged eight to 16-years-old between August 2 and 27.
Mr Mountstevens added: “With over 30 different activities and excursions on offer there is something for everyone, whether they’re into sports, art or drama.
“In addition to daytime sessions we will also be offering early risers’ and late leavers’ slots for working parents from 8am to 10am and 4pm to 6pm.”
Trained staff will take children off site for surfing, horse riding and tree surfing and trips to Paignton Zoo, Woodlands Theme Park and Roadford Lake, while professionals will teach everything from archery and dancing to cooking and fashion design at the centre.
The heated outdoor swimming pool is open to adults and children on weekdays throughout August from 1 to 7pm at a cost of just £1.50 for under 14s and £2 for adults.
The centre is registered with Ofsted, which allows parents who receive working tax credit to receive up to 80% off programme costs.
