Robin Jones has achieved a place to read medicine at Oxford
Robin Jones needs to achieve three As in his A2s to take up his place at St Hilda’s College to train as a doctor.
Robin said: “I want to do something that means I can help people and is going to be different every day. It’s so portable; I can go round the world and work in poor countries.
“At Oxford you have the possibility of going into research and there are so many opportunities.”
Robin achieved As in AS level maths, chemistry, biology, psychology and French before applying to the prestigious university. He is continuing to study all bar French at A2, and needs to gain an A in three of them to meet the offer.
“Oxford is the best for medicine,” continued Robin. “The course is very different; there are three years of pre-clinical whereas at most universities you’re in hospitals from the first day.
“My sister is studying languages there so I’ve visited and I love the city; it’s all about students. There is an open day at the college where we’ll be shown around and meet other people from the course.
“I was happy to receive an offer and I’ve got one from Birmingham as well and lots of interviews coming up so I’ll have to make a decision.”
