Top students were rewarded with a ticket to Octa Fest – a live music event for students with over 95% attendance and no problems with coursework or behaviour.
Pete Keegan, assistant director of sixth form, said: “Octa Fest’s six live music acts included a variety of our own incredibly talented musicians and the standard of entertainment was breath taking.
“The students who qualified for an invite arrived to an array of snacks and refreshments and there was soon a fantastic buzz of excitement around the room as Kirsten Smith and Bradley Crack started their set.
“It was a great success and the students left feeling uplifted, enthused about college life and understood that their hard work was valued.”
Octa Fest proved so successful it will now be held at the end of every term to compliment the prizes awarded in conjunction with local businesses Mark J Harris School of Motoring and Tree Surfers.
Each half term, the top students in Year 12 and 13 receive a free driving lesson or two tickets to the Gulworthy attraction.
Year 13 student Kyle Blake secured the tickets, while Year 12 student Lottie Allen has a driving lesson waiting when she turns 17.
She said: “I won for my volunteering in paired reading, enthusiasm and English and I’m really pleased and surprised.
“It’s a good idea because it shows that what you do is valued.”
