East gate is a brilliant place to eat if you have got a little extra cash of a lunch time! There is a wide selection of food to choose from, from starters to desserts and mains to snacks! The food is of high quality but with a price tag to match! It is normally not too busy and has a good area outside to eat at during the summer.

The East Gate Cafe is an asset to the main centre of Tavistock, its always bust with a nice atmosphere inside and its spacious which is really useful if you have a pushchair or buggy as many of the coffee shops/cafes in Tavistock are too small or cramped to get in if you have one! The food and service here is excellent, have eaten here loads of times and have never had a complaint. The coffee here is especially good.
This restaurant is lovely. One of the few in Tavistock Town with outdoor seating - next to the river too which is amazing on a sunny day. The food has never dissapointed me here. Everything looks fresh and there are also a lot of healthy choices on the menu which is nice to see. Large selection of salads and the apnini's are great. I would also reccomend the checking specials board too as they have lovely meals on here.

ReportThe East Gate has always been busy when Ive been there which Ive taken to be a good sign! The food and drinks have always been nice, and yes, the seating areas are always well kept. Weather permitting it is nice to take your drink/food outside onto the decking area by the river.
This restaurant/coffee house always seems bright, clean, and tidy. The food is nice and the coffees, teas, and hot chocolates always go down well. It is well situated at one end of the Tavistock high street and is always a welcome break after a couple of hours of shopping.

This place is and has been a very good place to eat for many years. The food is always lovely, always looks fresh and well presented. I like this place as there are always healthy options on the menu like salads and pasta's. As mentioned before the breakfast menu is very nice and a lovely setting for a nice breakfast by the river. The staff are always very proffesional and friendly. The restaurant always look clean and is very tastefully decorated.
Lovely setting and if its a sunny day sitting out by the river is a must. The breakfast menu is very nice and a lovely place to get a cooked breakfast without the grease! The Paninis are also really good. There is always a spectacular array of cakes and the coffee is great. Not the cheapest place to eat but service, food and atmosphere is exceptional here.
The East Gate is tucked away on bend to the road that runs between the river and the market. Considering its hidden location it always seems busy. Ive only ever eaten here once, as I normally use it as a coffee stop, and although it wasn't cheap, it was nice. The waitresses are always friendly.
This place does the best hot chocolate in the world - fact. Mountains of cream and lots of marshmallows (not very healthy though!). It's quite a clean and bright looking place, and is perfect for a sit down and battery recharge whilst shopping. The food isn't cheap, but is always nice. It also has a nice outside decking area at the back for the summer.
