Hard to beat in Tavistock anyway. We've eaten her several times and never been disappointed. Food good, service good, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't go anywhere else for Indian food in Tavistock.

I went for a sit in meal last night and James May from Top Gear was there having a meal with the crew! After a bit of eavesdropping I gleaned that they're shooting an episode on Dartmoor. Oh, and it was a nice meal :)

The Ganges Indian is a restaurant and take away service in Tavistock that is located on West Street. This establishment provides good quality authentic cuisine from a wide range of Indian dishes. The service here is friendly and quick and is open from 5.30 until around 11.30 most evenings.

ReportI went out with my friends to ganges for the first time last month... It was very disappointing the service wasn't very good the food was cold and tasteless and I found the staff a bit prevy... SO I DONT RECOMMEND THIS RESTUARNT AT ALL!!

The Ganges is great. The food is pretty good, the prices are reasonable, the service is excellent. The restaurant itself does have limited space, but I find it doesn't matter when everything else is so hospitable. It's certainly the best place around. Take away orders are always correct and ready on time, and the sit-down service is pretty prompt too. As with most Indian restaurants (bar 2 I've ever been too) don't bother ordering a dessert... they're almost universally awful ;)
Ganges is by far the best Indian around Tavistock. The staff are very friendly and offer a resonably paced service! The take away service is always prompt, however i reccommend pre ordering by phone. When eating in the prices are very reasonable and portion sizs are very good. They are very co-operative at busy times and do there best to ensure you get a table! Even if it is 40 rugby players on boxing day!

I like the Ganges and used to eat here a lot with work. The food is very good and they have gained an excellent reputation over the last 10 years in Tavistock. It is not very big and always busy so I would always recommend booking if you are wishing to eat in. Nice atmosphere inside and good service.
This Indian has been here for years and is the most well known Indian in the area. The food has always been beautiful and reasonably priced when I have been here. The service has always been excellent too. However, it is quite old fashioned inside, and very dark. Not the most meders place but the food has always been superb.

ReportYes this place is well known for its high quality authentic food. Its located near the Cornish Inn, on the left hand side if youre walking up the hill. As others have said before: I would definitely recommend it. Its not very up to date on the decoration front, but I really wouldnt let this put you off.
