Monterey Jacks restaurant on West Street caters in fine british food and delicious Mexican style dishes. Prices at Monterey Jacks are reasonable too, with large burgers that will satisfy your hunger no end. With the Cornish Arms pub situated next door you can dine in busy and cheerful atmosphere but with good service.

We ate here regularly for a time, it was a convenient start to a night out. After a couple of upset stomachs (before the consumption of alcohol I might add ;) and then actually witnessing the bored and grunting kitchen staff slinging around buckets of prepacked slop, we stopped eating there. It's a shame, because I liked the menu. I could even forgive a little fast and ready food, but not with that kind of lax handling.
Monterary Jacks offers a reasonable selection of food at a reasonable price. Personally it is a resturant that is better for an informal meal prior to a night out with the Cornish arms next door. Waiting times have been long at peak times but generally not too bad. The staff are very helpful and are willing to bring out birthday cakes etc for birthday meals.

The chilli came with Indian rice, no sour cream or cheese. The Baileys Meringue was what looked like a shop bought meringue circle sitting on top of canned whipped cream and Baileys - awful and £4.50 to boot! VERY slow service, but polite enough. Would I recommend it? Not unless I was drunk and hungry

Monteray Jacks is a lovely restaurant. They serve great Mexican style food the jalape£oppers are my absolute favourite! Its also good to go for a lunch with the girls and share a big portion of nachos! The service is great and has a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Great for office meals out and/or Christmas parties as its adjoining to the local pub The Cornish.
Monteray Jacks is a great place to eat. It helps if you like Mexican but there are othyer choices on the menu. Its good for groups of friends as there is always a good atmosphere as it is interjoined with The Cornish - a busy local pub. The food here is lovely and service is excellent. Have never had a bad experience here. Very Good.

ReportIve eaten here both at lunchtime and in the evenings. Lunchtime seemed fairly quite (which was nice), but I suppose this is because its away from the main group of shops. Evenings always seem to have a good atmosphere, and are a bit busier. Ive always enjoyed the food, and the staff have always been pleasant.
Ive popped in here for lunch a few times over the past couple of years and have always enjoyed the food. The prices arent too expensive and there is always a good choice of meals to choose from. They quite often have a specials board which seems to change most times Im in there.

This is the ideal way to enjoy something a little different. There is a fashionable look and feel to Monterey Jacks and they have a range of hot and spicy dishes as well as foods such as nachos, steaks, ribs, tortillas and fajitas. Theres a real energy and vibrancy about this place.

ReportThis is a great little restaurant if you want to go somewhere a little different to the usual chinese or indian. The prices are quite good for the standard of food and the service is pretty good too. Easy to find on one of the main streets with plenty of pubs near by for a drink before your meal.
