I have been here many times for a drink aswell as a meal. The food is reasonably priced and very tasty. It is always busy, especially around weekends and evenings. The free pool table is a great attraction and the staff are very friendly and enjoy some banter! The music can be loud which would suit younger years, but the meals produced are evry nice.

The Cornish Arms

The Cornish Arms is a great little pub in Tavistock that is situated right on West Street. This traditional pub sells an excellent range of local beers and with the building being in conjunction with Monterey Jacks restaurant you’ll find a friendly and welcoming atmosphere here too.

Great pub

The Cornish is a great pub to go for a social drink with friends and you can have food in the restaraunt that is right next door as well. Friendly staff and reasonable prices for drinks. There is a seperate room with a pool table so there is fun to be had in there including darts. Comfortable seating and music is normally very good. Busy on Friday and Saturday nights but in a good way - always a good buzz.

Good pub

Th Cornish is a very good pub, that is spread out fairly well despite being fairly small. The small room to the left with pool table is brilliant of an afternoon as the pool is free and there is a jukebok and itbox down the end! The beers are fairly pricey but the pub is very good to relax on the sofas or to chill outside in the small patio area.

The Cornish is a lovely pub with a good atmosphere especially at the weekends if you like your bars busy and lively! You can get good food here as there is an adjoining tex mex restaurant (Monteray Jacks). There is a large seating area outside which makes this pub one of the best to go to in the summer months as others in Tavistock are missing a garden or smoking area. The stairs down to the toilets and the garden can be a little hairy after a few!

The food in Monteray Jacks interjoined with the Cornish definately makes this pub a good place to go for a meal and and few follow-up drinks. The pub is large and spacious and there is always a good atmosphere but agree that it is very busy at weekend. Not so bad in the summer months as there is a large outdoor seating area, but indoors is crowded in the winter. Overall a very nice pub.

Good atmosphere

Yes, I would agree that this isnt the place to go for a quiet drink at the weekends. Good if youre with a group of friends and up for a laugh, but the music can sometimes be a bit loud, so not great if you just want a quiet chat.

This pub does get a little full at the weekends so..

This pub does get a little full at the weekends so if youre after a quiet drink then its probably not the best place to go. It is nice on a weeknight however, and its close connections to Monteray Jacks is good if youre a bit peckish. The layout is good bar and games room, and there is a largish outside area at the back.

A pleasant traditional style pub that if you enter..

A pleasant traditional style pub that if you enter on a week night youll be sure to find some friendly banter and chat. Quite a good selection of real ales and larger and they also do pub food as well. If youre on a night out in Tavistock then the Cornish Arms has to be one place where you stop off for a quick pint.

Always decent beer in this place and the atmosphere is not bad either. More of your usual style pub that one or two rivals near by. The jukebox is always belting out and bar staff seem pretty freindly. This is a well established pub that many people in Tavistock will have been in at some stage in their lives. Like with Jack Chams though, it could do with being just a touch bigger.
