Tidy Tavi Team were out about in Tavistock again on Saturday tackling the litter, doing their bit to tidy up the town!
A special thanks to Jane and her team who worked especially hard picking up the many cigarette ends and sweeping under the benches. What a huge difference it made, how lovely and clean these area's are now looking, but for how long?
Having the new recyclable bins in the town with ashtrays installed lets hope this will encourage people to use them and stop throwing their butts on the ground. This is litter! and really is a big problem outside some of the businesses in town.
Thank you Debo Sellis for cleaning outside the betting office, this area was particularly bad with cigarette ends. Let's hope we can all work together to stop this sort of litter being dropped!
Another bad area was in Parkwood Road, the area where there is a nice little park. Please to the irresponsible dog owner that has left numerous bags with dog poo in, please stop throwing it into the hedge. How would you feel it someone threw this sort of thing in your garden?
Without willing volunteers Tidy Tavi could not operate so I would like to say thank you all the volunteers. Also to the Wharf for allowing us to meet up at the Wharf car park. To the Tavistock Gazette for all the publicity, and to all the shops and business that display the Tidy Tavi posters. Many thanks to Phil Jarman, a local business man, who comes with his 4-wheel drive and transports all the full bags of rubbish to the collection point. Thank you for the Council's ongoing support in providing bags and getting the full bags removed.
The 22 volunteers collected 25 bags of rubbish - so once again Tavistock is looking a cleaner place with less litter around.
So PLEASE do your bit by placing rubbish in the many bins provided or by taking your litter home. Thank you Pamela Steele (Tidy Tavi Team)
