Twenty five volunteers turned out for the monthly litter pick. Suitably dressed in their high-viz tarbards, armed with hoops, litter pickers and bags they moved into action in and around the town.
Five groups worked for 2 hours and collected 29 bags full of litter as well as other various pieces of rubbish.

Two teams had their work cut out in the town trying to clear all the mess left in the town after the Dickensian evening the night before. We are not sure went wrong regards the cleaning up of the town after the event. The volunteers, residents and shoppers were faced with overflowing bins and mess throughout the town, it looked dreadful. The volunteers did their best and helped the only street cleaner they saw trying to clean up the town.
Two volunteers swept and cleaned under the benches in Bedford Square and the Old Folks resting area, which were full of cigarette ends. This is litter! and looks disgusting, so please who ever is responsible please stop.

Another group of volunteers cleared the rubbish at the Westdevon Business Park. This area is used by youths as a meeting point, who congregate in their cars at night and leave the area in a disgusting state by throwing litter out of their cars. This is an ongoing problem that certainly needs addressing and solving by the police.

Another team of volunteers cleared litter along from Dolvin Road up to Kelly College. It had been reported by a local resident that there was a lot of litter in the hedgerow on the corner of Terrace Ave at the end of Parkwood Road. We have an idea who is responsible for this and will be keeping a close eye on this area.

Many thanks for all the dedicated volunteers for all the work you put in and to all the other people who go out by themselves picking up litter. We have a most beautiful town and it is encouraging to find people who do their bit in the community by helping to keep it clean and tidy.
