  • The canal will become polluted
  • A road will plough though this area
  • Trees and Woodland will be lost
  • Looks a nice walk huh? It wont be when a road goes through it
  • Unspoilt and quiet - for now. Looking towards Crowndale farm
  • Fields now, roads and buildings later, right next to the canal
  • Tranquil setting and haven for wildlife
  • Enjoy it cows, you won't be on those fields or taking water from the canal if the West Devon Council get their way
  • Natural light illuminates the canal path and river, soon to be blocked out by buildings and polluted with car fumes.
  • Natural light will be lost and noise will prevail
  • Site of another access road on to green fields, where children on Monksmead Estate play and walk to school

  • Flora will be lost
  • Moss and flora on wet rocks provided a valuable part to the eco system
  • Ferns and more flora, home to many an insect and birds
  • Natures wonder - habitats to be lost
  • Food sources for wildlife, berries and apples in abundence, to be replaced with tarmac and concrete.
  • Green fields to be lost - Site of planned hospital and railway station, with road running alongside the canal on the right
  • Another field will be lost to houses
  • Beautiful views - enjoy whilst you can!! Buildings will block this
  • Another planned field for housing
  • And another field planned for housing! How much do they want!?
  • Another view to be wrecked by buildings and roads
  • Site of proposed school
  • Nice view towards drakes birth place, which you won't see
  • Another field planned for housing
  • Lost forever - if we don't stop them!
  • Site of more housing - this time 'extra care housing' as they put it
  • The old railway line - peacful and a haven for wildlife, to be lost to diesel engines of new trains
  • The old railway line again. No walking along here when they've finished
  • Tree canopies over the old railway line provide shade and filter out impurities, and also provide vital oxygen for us all - to be lost
  • Looks pretty huh? It won't be once a road and buildings spoil the view
  • Site of relief road - across the distant hill and towards you
  • Another view of the hillside that will be scrarred forever with a major road
  • Log piles provide superb homes to wildlife - again will be lost
  • Field mice will be displaced, if not killed during construction!
  • Butterflies will have to take flight
  • Hares will have to hop it elsewhere
  • Hedgehogs will be slaughted by more vehicles and need new homes

    Thanks folks. I just hope this gives an overall better picture (excuse pun) as to the reality and disasterious effects of what will happen.
