Tavistock is a relaxed pace, fairly open minded place to live. It has a mix of shops that cater for many people, and a beautiful park in which to spend time in. As an added bonus, the Wharf holds a mix of entertainment and arts.
Tavistock and the surrounding rural areas are a hard place to live for some people suffering from mental health problems. This is likely to be a direct result of feeling 'cut off' from the rest of society, both mentally and - quite frequently - physically. SURF aims to change that. We're a charity that looks to raise funds through the community, and give it all back in a way that benefits those marginalised through mental health difficulties. We listen to what people miss doing as a result of their illness, and wetry our best to make it a reality for them again. We have regular coffee mornings to encourage socialisation and promote a sense of belonging. If you're interested in learning more, feel free to drop us a note on the TavistockPeople website, and we'll get in touch!
