Swapping to Nitrogen
By Dartmoor Motorcycle Training | Monday, April 26, 2010, 22:11
Tavistock Tyres - has asked Dartmoor Motorcycle Training to use Nitrogen to inflate our school bikes. Why?
Longer life expectancy for the tyres.
Improved fuel economy as the tyres retain pressure for longer.
Quicker tyre warm up.
Results so far - the tyres feel exactly the same, the figures will take a while to shine through.
Comments
There are several benefits to using nitrogen in tyres. Firstly there is less seepage through the tyres casing. Also Nitrogen is not affected by temperature. Therefore this helps the tyre maintain its pressure thus helping the tyre to last longer and also reduce fuel consumption. Nitrogen has long been used in Aircraft tyres and only recently has become more widely available.
