Some local residents will find they are in a new constituency when they go to vote in the General Election.

The new Central Devon seat is next to the Torridge and West Devon seat, and some residents will fall into the new constituency.

A spokesman for West Devon Borough Council says the areas that are in the new Central Devon constituency are Chagford, Drewsteignton, Exbourne, Hatherleigh, Lew Valley, North Tawton, Okehampton and South Tawton.

The other wards will remain in Torridge and West Devon. A new wards in that constituency will be Buckland Monachorum (consisting of Yelverton, Buckland Monachorum, Crapstone, Clearbrook and Milton Combe). This was formerly in Plymouth South West.

Torridge District Council will look after the Torridge and West Devon constituency, while West Devon Borough Council will administer the Central Devon seat.

Maps of both constituencies can be seen in Tavistock library and the council's office in Kilworthy Park, as well as on www.westdevon.gov.uk/generalelection2010.

The General Election must be held this year by Thursday June 3.
