CELEBRATING LOCAL PRODUCE IN THE TAMAR VALLEY

The third Tamar Harvest Community Festival was held at Cotehele Quay on Sunday 12th Sept. The many visitors were able to watch a display of basket weaving, enjoy the taste of harvest with seasonal produce from local growers, and bask in the sunshine while listening to the music of local group ‘Under The Fingers’.

Allotment enthusiast, Jenny Bolders, was judged overall winner of the Community Horticultural Show. She came first in three categories: largest pumpkin, best display of mixed salad, and tastiest tomato. Her prize was a tree - 'Tamar Apple Improved Keswick', kindly donated by Endsleigh Garden Nurseries.
Tamar Grow Local is developing a series of projects with landowners and organisations to encourage a range of community groups and businesses to get involved in local initiatives such as community orchards, bee-keeping, composting, and allotments.
