Winter's come early!

Well we've seen the first glimpse of snow this year. In fact it's been reported as the earliest widespread snowfall in seventeen years.
There was a time when I would have been excited by this, but after last year's long spell of ice and snow, the novelty has well and truely worn off! I hope this winter's isn't going to be as bad as the last one! Unfortunately if this latest weather is anything to go by, it looks as if it's going to be a very long, very cold winter. Weather forecasters have already predicted that this currnet cold spell will last a fortnight.
Have you had snow where you are? Are you ready for the winter? What preparations do we/the council need to take to insure a safe winter this year?

Know what you mean about the novelty of snow wearing off....in the last bad spell, my husband, who works in Oke, and our 3 dogs became stranded in snow drifts off the moors on the A386 near Mary Tavy. Incredibly, some kind soul took pity on the dogs (and him) and put them up for the night. So this year our preparation is he doesn't go to work if it starts looking bad and have plenty of firewood to hand!! I now work from home so the snow is no longer an excuse to say I can't get to work!!
