I may seem extreme when I say that the Grand National is not a true sporting event at all; but one that is pretty violent in nature. There are a large number of deaths of horses that take place on racecourses every year. What kind of people wish to witness that? We have a choice to be challenged, animals do not.
Oh well we will have to agree to disagree on this one. I love seeing horses , working dogs pushed to their limits and people too, its the challenge of life.
That's life I'm afraid but thank you for your comments.
Raising money can be done without putting horses at risk and this sounds like a way to salve your conscience. I wonder how you would feel if a horse you rode died because you raced it? Perhaps you are unaware of the stress racing causes a horse? Breeding a horse to race...another way to make you feel better about horse racing! It is cruel; statistics will support that. Therefore, no one should support it. However, they do through pure greed.
I love horses and horse racing . I worked with thousands in my lifetime and horses die whether they are racing ,jumping or in fields with no one on them. I realize people have different ideas but I will never regret having raced at pace over fences on a horse that was bred for that purpose.
Also I enjoy working with the Bob Champion Cancer Trust it is an honour and theve made 15 million pounds which has gone into helping cure testicular and prostate Male Cancer saving lives World Wide now. When Aldaniti won in 1981 with Bob on board , whoever would have thought how many people that win would help and inspire others. http://tinyurl.com/y9tgawf
