This is the whole idea - fibre optic cable is comparable in price to copper cable now. It is a matter of getting Fibre Optic To The Cabinet (FTTC). Lamerton has a cabinet and it will bring the speed the exchange gets - which is a minimum 20 Mbps. At that point any poor copper line or dry joints can be identified. There is marketing hype and a minimum speed for Superfast Broadband. But this is on top of a proper Fibre Optic Network being in place. Money spent is on this Network. That is actually the improvement that is sought to improve broadband and in your case have any chance of a land line connection.
As some of you may know I was a Royal Marine and although have a Tavistock number I live out at Lamerton… and I know I had a slow speed with the internet… So I went on the RM site where you can ask all sorts of questions… and asked about broadband internet speed…
Here are some of the replies…

Reportyorkiemalone - Thanks for the update - Greenhill appears to be the dividing line. How far really poor broadband goes down the hill or main street is unknown. BT actually know the broadband speed on every line. Making yet another time delaying and time wasting Devon County Council Survey a farce.
