Standing Stones, Hut Circles * Buriel Mounds

Do you have a standing stone in your garden or field? Know of a buriel mound or remains of a hut circle?

I know of several ancient sites around Tavistock and would like to investigate and plot as many as I can possibly find on a map, so if you know of any please get in touch.

Thanks polyanna link was most helpful and have a good collection of resources for sites on Dartmoor, but not such much in Tavistock. That said I have just ordered to very old maps of the area so fingers crossed.

I have an idea there is some standing stones in the vicarage garden, I have never seen them but they could be Rune Stones?

:) Can't say I have tabs, but am on the prowl to locate each and everyone. Perhaps once linked they'll proivde an entrance to a magical under world where exploration and discoveries await to be told.... I wish.

Although it might show some interesting layouts.

Have recently bought two old maps of the area, and hope to over lay them on to a new one so I can get a better feel for how and where things in Tavistock used to be.

Here's a bit of info about one of the stones, but I think I read somewhere there are more than one. Could you take some photos and put them on the site if you go to find them?

Thanks both! Time for a visit I thinks, rope over shoulder, hip flask on waist, Indiana Jones hat on and camera in hand. Will be happy to upload any photos... if I can work out how ha!

I shall also take photos of others I have found and post them too, see if anyone can shed light on them.
