Its great seeing all the advertisements for this, knowing that Tavistock Telephone Exchange must be on a NHS type waiting list. Where you don't show up as being on it making the figures look better.
So what could areas with basic Broadband connections expect if we did actually get it? With Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) there is a target of a minimum of 15Mbits/sec up to 40Mbits/sec. So living near a street cabinet will be like living next to the Telephone Exchange.
When the system is in place, increases to 60Mbits/sec and then to 100Mbits/sec are the likely targets.
We have more chance of having pigs flying over Tavistock at present. There is no political will to highlight Tavistock and support Broadband improvement.
It would interesting to have a survey at Tavistock College from the Students to see what speed they have at home. This would give a really good view of the situation.
May be a good basis for a project by a Student.
