West Devon Borough Council has been shortlisted for the Customer Satisfaction Award for Local Authority Searches at the 2012 Local Land Charges industry awards, sponsored by Land Data.

The national awards highlight excellence in local authority land charges departments, which complete land searches for property transactions and re-mortgages. The borough council, which scooped the award last year, will find out the winner at a ceremony in Bristol next month.

Cllr James McInnes, Leader of West Devon Borough Council said: "Our land charges officers work hard to make the home buying process a smooth one for our residents. I'm delighted to see their work recognised again this year – it's a great reflection of the good work of the department, and of the other departments which support it."

Lesley Dingle, Assistant Solicitor at Ann Pointer Solicitors, Tavistock said: "We deal with many local authorities around the country and have always found that the service we get from the West Devon Borough Council's Land Charges team is the most efficient. They are consistently helpful and easy to deal with. Searches are always prompt - a one day turn around in one particular instance was stunning!"
