Think about the Grand National

Please don't bet on the Grand National tomorrow. It is a proven cruel

and barbaric sport and needs to be banned. The race is deliberately

hazardous and too much of a challenge for most horses. 20 have died

since the year 2000 and many others have been slaughtered because they

have been bred to compete and then don't make the mark. This isn't even

mentioning the injuries that horses sustain.

Please, please think before betting. I bet through ignorance a few years

ago and then was mortified at what I learnt. If I had won I knew I

would give it away to a horses charity.

If you love animals, then you will appreciate that this race is terribly cruel entertainment; designed only to make money.

Sign the Ban the Grand National petition today and join me in the fight

to look after our beautiful horses and save them from suffering and

pain.

Thanks Cheerio. I hope spreading awareness will help towards banning this sport too :-)

I completely agree. So many people were talking about their bets at the weekend. Most were not regular betters and were only doing it becuase it was the Grand National. The vast majority of people just go along with it becuase it's a bit of fun (which if fair enough!), but I do wish that people would think about what they are supporting. Two horses died as a result of humans forcing them to 'enterntain' us. I'm actually shocked that the sport is still allowed. I would hope and expect that will will be banned in the near future, but meanwhile let's do our bit by not betting, speading awareness, and signing the petition mentioned above.
