If you have a proven skill at controlling the family budget and are the type to be creative in managing your money then West Devon Borough Council would like you to apply your midas touch in helping them balance their budget – and direct their resources wisely.
You are being invited to share your ideas at a special 'Meeting the Budget Challenge' on 28th November to get involved in shaping the council's budget and influence where it focuses it's resources. The event takes place between 5pm and 7pm at the council's offices at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock. All are welcome.
Cllr Philip Sanders, West Devon Borough Council member for Strategies and Resources, said: "This is a great opportunity for the public to have their say about where we spend our resources in the local area and I would encourage as many as possible to get involved."
He added: "Like everyone, we are facing budget pressures this year. We need to reduce our budget by £400,000 and we want the public to be more involved in shaping where we spend our limited resources in their local area.
"As budgets are reduced, we need to ensure we are focussing on delivering services that meet the needs of local communities. To help us make the right decisions about the budget we want the public to get involved in telling us what is important in their local area and how we can be more effective with our resources."
The sessions will be interactive and will explain the challenges the council faces before asking people to share their thoughts.
An online version of the survey will be available from 25th November on www.westdevon.gov.uk/budgetconsultation and the council encourages as many people as possible to complete the survey.
