Superfast Broadband Update Christmas 2011

As another year draws to an end, BT Openreach has not managed to select Tavistock for any fibre optic roll-out. The only fibre optic to be found in the Town will be in the form of Christmas Decorations and the like.

Fibre Optic (Lights) at Tavistock Telephone Exchange
As Tavistock is in the Devon County Council area and the Government promise that 90 percent of people in each Local Authority will have access to superfast broadband (over 24 Mbps) by 2015. I only concentrate on Devon County Council.
Where this promise can be twisted is the area is then divided into 8 Local Authorities. 90 percent of each area diminishes the number of people reached even further. Add to this what does 'access' really mean? A superfast broadband link in a Library or other place could suffice and be 'access' for all those who care to visit. This is not that farfetched with Village Hubs muted by West Devon Borough Council that were not delivered and appear to have been completely forgotten about.
Four more Devon Telephone Exchanges have been added lately to the BT Openreach roll-out plan for 2012. This makes 5. One Bridgerule appears to have come from Cornwall overspill.
There are still Exchanges to be chosen by BT Openreach but time is getting short before they have all they are prepared to roll-out from. Please help to get Tavistock noticed, no I am not looking for a volunteer to unfurl a banner from the London BT Tower, well only if you insist.
Email tavistock@devonbroadband.co.uk , it can be blank for details of how to get Tavistock noticed.
Otherwise have a really good superslow broadband Christmas.

Thanks for that. This is a long running publicised Fund for England. As far as I can tell the areas have already been chosen to go forward for funding and none are in the West Devon Borough Council area.
There is more Government paper shuffling between Local Authorities and BDUK than physical movement towards actual superfast broadband provision. Any monies gained will just go towards any Broadband Plan already in existence as you need to identify that you are in the hardest to reach 10 percent area in that plan.
There are so many hurdles for those who are not a Local Authority you would be better off applying to be in the Olympics.

ReportHi - I have placed the 3 Links on the article now. The reply from the email address is automatic so will be answered as soon as received. Thanks for your support. Time is running out, registering interesting can be done without the line having broadband etc.
