Sexual assault on woman in Launceston

Police in Launceston are investigating a sexual assault on a 19 year-old woman who was walking home alone at around 2am on Tuesday 6th September.
The assault occurred in the Newport area of the town and it's believed that the man followed her before attacking her in Broad Park. The victim was able to fight off the attacker who then ran away from the scene.
The suspect is described as having stocky build and was of East Asian appearance. He was wearing a jacket, trousers, hat, and a pair of white Havaiana flip flops with a Brazilian flag on the strap.
