One thing that Cornwall Council has in common with Devon County Council is that they each have about 100 Telephone Exchanges in their area.

By this time next year, those telephone exchanges in Cornwall will be supplying over 50 percent of the businesses and homes attached to them with superfast broadband.
Meanwhile in Devon, on what is known today and without further announcement, that supply will be less than 20 percent.
If we roll forward to 2014, Cornwall will be 100 percent. We will need to keep rolling to 2015 for the proposed delivery of 76 percent. In reality even if the 76 percent is achieved, 24 percent of businesses and/or homes will be without superfast broadband.
In order to get to that 76 percent over the next 4 long years there is also a 50 percent reliance (of that figure) on the benevolence of BT and for some other areas, Virgin Media.
Tavistock is in the benevolence section. If businesses and homes want superfast broadband then they need to speak up, otherwise Tavistock could be without superfast broadband up to and including 2020.
One simple thing that can be done is visit the link here and register interest by filling up this form for BT Infinity on the official BT site.
If you have a Business Line - visit the link here and register interest.
You cannot get it of course but it will allow you to register interest for the Tavistock 01822 area. It does not matter which internet service provider you are with - they will all have access to this the BT Network.
At present there are no Telephone Exchanges in Devon on the BT Openreach future fibre roll-out plans. Perhaps Cornwall will have some spare from their 88,000 plus miles of fibre cable. What about it Olivia?
