"Afloat" by Nicky Edmunds. The work is on show in "Fresh Off The Press", an exhibition at Limekiln Gallery showcasing work by artists at Mary Gillett's print workshop near Tavistock
Described as "one of the finest printmaking collections" in the UK, the exhibition showcases recent work by the artists of Mary Gillett's print workshop near Tavistock.
"Over the years, 'Fresh Off The Press' has become a must-see show for lovers of the delicate and painstaking art of printmaking in all its varied forms," says Limekiln Gallery co-owner Ley Roberts.
"Mary's lifetime of experience and technical expertise draws in many artists – among them some of the foremost names in the region – and the convivial atmosphere provides encouragement and inspiration, resulting in free, expressive and accomplished work, examples of which are a feature of this absorbing exhibition."
Tamar Valley
The Limekiln Gallery specialises in showing work by artists from the Tamar Valley.
"The area has long been renowned for its special light," says gallery co-owner Bernie Hawes. "In the colder months – with angled sunlight bouncing off the river – there's a particular clarity that perfectly highlights the precise and delicate lines of etchings and other forms of printmaking. These are current, emotional responses to the present, yet are formed using skills that go back centuries."
Now on
Fresh Off The Press 2013 is now on at the Limekiln Gallery, Commercial Road, Calstock, Cornwall PL18 9QT. The exhibition runs until 14 March. The gallery is open every day except Mondays from 11am until 5pm.
