New football club for over 50's to launch in Tavistock

A NEW football group has been set up to encourage over-50s back into the game.
The launch of a new walking football session in Tavistock aims to prove you're never too old to get back in the game.
Walking football has all the same rules as normal football but running and jogging is banned. All players must walk the pitch.
Neil Jordain, a football development officer based within West Devon Borough Council, said: "This is a great way for football loving people who are old in numbers but young in spirit to keep playing, get fit, meet new people and score some goals, and just because players must stick to a walk it doesn't mean the game is any less exciting.
"Walking football is a growing sport with hundreds of people across the UK playing each week. If you're interested in a kick around come down to the free taster session this month and find out more."
Anyone over the age of 50 who loves the game but feels they can no longer keep up with the pace is invited to try out the sport at a free taster session on March 14 from 5pm-6pm at Tavistock College Sport's Hall.

ReportWhat a great story! As a lady of mature years, I am willing to volunteer to stand on the sidelines and wolf-whistle at anyone in shorts!
