Sunday's event saw hundreds of young people marching from Bedford Car Park to the St George's Day service at Tavistock's Saint Eustachius' Parish Church.
A number of VIPs, including Geoffrey Cox, MP for Torridge and West Devon, and Mrs Anne Johnson, the Mayor of Tavistock Town Council, inspected the parade prior to its departure and were saluted as it arrived at the church.
"It's such a wonderful thing that so many children get involved in this sort of activity," said Mr Cox. "It's a tribute to the parents, a tribute to those adults who put such hard work in all year, to arrange the meetings, to arrange the activities and to supervise the awards. This is is a huge community effort and it's a privilege to be here to support it."
Although the parade took place in overcast conditions, the rain just held off.
"This is pretty good Tavistock weather for April actually!" said Mrs Anne Johnson, the Mayor of Tavistock Town Council.
"Well it's better than last year," said Mr Cox. "It poured with rain, but this year it's dry and I'm delighted to see so many happy faces taking part."
