By PGStrange | Monday, March 11, 2013, 11:44
THERE HAS been a light snow fall across some parts of Devon this morning. It follows an amber warning from the Met Office, saying that snow was expected. Torquay seafront was closed to traffic this morning as heavy waves pounded the seawall, but it has just been reopened. And there are six flood alerts in place for the South West, including Torbay and the South Devon coast...

So far, the snow appears to be affecting Dartmoor and North Devon, although Tweets - and photos - have been coming in, saying that there's snow has fallen in South Devon, including the South Hams and Marriage Woods and Elberry Cove near Brixham.
Torqay seafront was closed this morning as the sea wall was pounded by heavy waves, but reports are coming in that it has just been reopened.
The seafront closure followed an Environment Agency flood alert for Torbay, Beesands, Torcross, Slapton and Dawlish.saying that "strong winds up to Force 8 are forecast to coincide with high tides during Monday 11 March. This will increase tide levels along the South Devon coast".
