JAILED: Carolyn George
Carolyn George, aged 50, of Cramber Close, Tavistock, was jailed for three years last August after she pleaded guilty to four charges, including false representation, theft, concealing criminal property and false accounting.
George worked for Tavistock Motor Bodies, an accident repair business, for 16 years as office administrator and book-keeper. She admitted stealing more than £118,000 from the firm and a further £74,000 from a finance company.
At Plymouth Crown Court yesterday Judge Paul Darlow heard the total concealed by George amounted to £192,834.84p. However, the company had eventually recovered from its loss. As George had no assets, Judge Darlow said he "reluctantly" agreed she pay a nominal fee of £1.

If she has a job she can repay more. If se doesn't have a job, people on benefit still are ordered to pay back a couple of quid a week. Were her assets investigated thoroughly?
I should think that the former employer is glad it's over, in one respect, but could see about suing her. Maybe she has a half-share in a property? She wasn't bothered about harming the business' future survival.

ReportJudge Paul Darlow must be wet behind the ears. Not fit to be a member of the judiciary. Carolyn George stole £200,000 and he can't find any of it? It beggars belief.

ReportI dont understand this at all. No order to pay something back from future earnings/benefits?
I admit to not understanding how this all works it seems ridiculous. Good on Tavistock motors for recovering. Hope they have invested in a good accountant
