Tavistock Goose Fair 2011
Officers from both West Devon Borough Council and Tavistock Town Council have spent several months planning for the event, working hard to ensure that all preparations are completed and all health and safety precautions have been made.
From midnight on Saturday, the Borough Council will close the Bedford and Wharf car parks for the week to accommodate fairground rides.
On Goose Fair day itself (Wednesday 12th October) Russell Street, Chapel Street and Riverside car parks will also be closed. Abbey car park will be available to blue badge holders only, and charges will apply. The bus station will be closed and more fairground rides will be located there.
All car parks, except Bedford and the Wharf will re-open as normal on Thursday 13th October.
Signs and barriers will be in place where necessary and officers from both authorities will be monitoring the event throughout the day to ensure it runs smoothly and safely.
Borough Council officers, together with the Council's waste contractor, FOCSA, will be back in the town from 2am on Thursday to carry out a major clean-up operation and make sure that the town's streets are spick and span by the time residents are out and about in the morning!
