Callington (4) Vs Roche (0)
Callington made up for the disappointment of letting a two goal lead slip away at Roche last week by beating their opponents in comfortable fashion at home.
The opening goal on the five minute mark was slightly fortuitous when the Roche keeper spilled a driven Katy Sheffield free kick into the back of her net at the near post. However, the goal seemed to settle Callington into creating a flurry of chances. Town midfielder Jodie Shipton fired the ball narrowly over the cross-bar from distance, and lively striker Sasha Cameron watched her near post shot go just inches wide.
Callington then doubled their lead on 20 minutes when Cameron had a fairly routine tap-in following some good work from Shipton, who's driving run into the heart of Roche's defence caused all sorts of problems.
The home side then made their afternoon even more comfortable with a third goal before the break. A long ball over the top from Callington defender Marie Wilson was latched onto by Cameron who then coolly lobbed the Roche keeper from 12 yards to grab her second goal of the match.
As in the previous week's fixture, the second half saw a resurgent Roche display but Callington were not going to relinquish their lead as easily on this occasion. On the hour mark Callington sealed the win when striker Kate Lewis' clever flick fell into the path of Cameron who finished in clinical style, earning her second hat-trick of the season.
Callington's player of the match was shared between Jodie Shipton and defender Natalie Rider.
Callington welcome visitors Charlestown to Ginster's Marshfield next Sunday.
