Bristol SoccerWorld Cup (Round 2)
Callington Town LFC (3) Vs Forest Green Rovers Reserves (0)
It was always going to be a difficult task for the travelling away side after losing no less than four players on the morning of the match due to sickness. However, despite playing the game two players down, Forest Green started the better of the two teams.
Callington did eventually make their extra players count on 20 minutes, when right winger and player of the match Kate Lewis crossed the ball for Town midfielder Katy Sheffield to volley home from eight yards.
After finally breaking the dead-lock, Callington began to pass the ball better and it was an excellent through-ball from Jodie Shipton to play in Callington's leading scorer Sasha Cameron who made no mistake with her finish to put the home side two-up before the break.
Callington put the game to bed on the hour mark when the returning Kylie Booth made her first appearance of the season to powerfully head home a Sam Veal corner.
After the game Callington manager Adam McPherson said: "Having never played them before, we had no idea what to expect. To their credit they played very well despite the circumstances. We made a poor start but once we got the opening goal the team seemed to settle. It was also a real boost to have Kylie back and she was delighted to score after coming off the bench."
Callington will now face a long away trip to Poole Town in the Quarter Finals.
