South West Women's Football League – (Div 1 West)
Dobwalls (0) Vs Callington (5)
A hat-trick from Callington's in-form striker Sasha Cameron helped Callington seal an emphatic victory over local rivals Dobwalls. After a fairly tight opening 15 minutes Callington opened the scoring when Sam Veal's corner was met at the back post by Cameron, who powered home a diving header from close range.
Ten minutes later Town doubled their lead when the impressive Jodie Shipton played in Cameron who raced onto the through-ball before rounding the keeper and slotting home from a tight angle. Callington went into the half time interval with a deserved two goal lead.
The opening exchanges of the second period saw Dobwalls pressing Callington for an equaliser, but on the hour mark it was Callington who got the all-important third goal. Midfielder Katy Sheffield laid the ball off to Anneliese Noakes who fired an unstoppable drive from 25 yards off the underside of the cross-bar and into the net.
Seemingly deflated by the strike, Dobwalls then had to try and fend off further Callignton attacks. Amongst some desperate defending inside the 18 yard box the referee spotted a handball by a Dobwalls defender and awarded Callignton a penalty. Cameron stepped up but fired her spot-kick just wide of the post. However, she did not dwell on the miss for too long, as five minutes later she headed home a loose ball from six yards to complete her hat-trick - taking her into double figures for the season.
The rout was complete five minutes from time when new signing Ali Cole set up Veal who lashed in Callington's fifth goal of the game.
Callington are at home to Taunton next Sunday.
